Defending the Rights of Consumers
Wittels Law is a leader in protecting consumers from fraudulent and deceptive practices. Among our cases are those in which consumers were victims of false advertising and marketing, unconscionable business practices, or purchased defective products.
For example, we currently represent Time Warner Cable customers challenging TWC’s October 2012 decision to begin charging its customers $3.95 per month to “lease” the used cable internet modems already in their homes. We also represent a nationwide class of sub-prime mortgage borrowers in their challenge to a fraudulent check solicitation scheme.
Mr. Wittels has a track record of achieving significant recoveries for consumers. For example, in a lawsuit against G.E. Capital, Mr. Wittels achieved an award of $19.2 million for over 400,000 consumers.
Similarly, Mr. Wittels obtained benefits totaling $14.2 million for a class of nearly 500,000 lessees who were subjected to a leasing company’s unfair business practices. In another successful action, Mr. Wittels obtained benefits of $2.1 million for a class of approximately 45,000 equipment lessees who had been charged non-disclosed late fees and document fees.
